After a gap of nearly a decade, the sequel to the crime film Aankhen, is set to finally take off. Director Anees Bazmee has finalized the script and has confirmed that the filming will begin shortly. The sequel is said to begin from where the original film ended.
Amitabh Bachchan earlier played the role of a mastermind who planned to rob a bank with the help of three blind men played by Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal. The director affirms that the sequel will star Amitabh, John Abraham as one of the blind men and Anil Kapoor in an interesting character.
The original film was based on a Gujarati play titled Andhalo Pato. The sequel to Aankhen was announced in 2006 by producer Gaurang Doshi but since there was no director for the film, the project was shelved. The script went from Vipul Amrutlal Shah to Sachin Pilgaonkar and finally to Anees Bazmee.
"Aankhen 2 will roll in May and could start before the No Entry sequel because Salman bhai (Khan) doesn't have dates to spare. But No Entry Main Entry is a three-year old commitment and top priority. Whenever Salman has the time, I will be there, putting my friendship with him and Boney before any other commitment”, stated Anees.
